Family-owned Lymm Truckwash has been granted permission to expand its facility by 50%, with the addition of two more wash bays, writes Carol Millett.
This will increase its capacity to six commercial vehicle washes and reduce queuing times at the site, which the company claims will make it the largest truckwash in Europe.
Work on the expansion is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with the new bays expected to be fully operational by autumn of that year.
The development will also create several new jobs in the local area.
The company, which is now in its 58th year, said the investment highlights its long-term commitment to the region and will support local suppliers and contractors throughout the build, delivering a further boost to both the regional and national economies.
With an average of 60,000 trucks washed annually – and over 22,000 vehicles already cleaned by the end of April 2025 – The company said the additional bays will enable Lymm Truckwash to streamline operations.
Managing director Laura Cardwell, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to move forward with this development.
“Demand during busy periods has been so high that we needed to improve our service by reducing costly downtime for our customers and enhancing road safety by removing queues from the road. The two new washes and additional queuing space will allow us to do just that.
“This investment is about supporting our customers and drivers, improving road safety and wait times, and creating more local jobs.
“We’re proud to be a family-run business that continues to invest in the future of haulage, as well as in both the local and national economies.”
